Tony- and Pulitzer-nominee Lee Blessing’s gripping family drama Independence tells the story of a mother and her three grown daughters in small-town Independence, Iowa. The play unfolds as the daughters come together out of concern for their mother’s mental health. As the daughters each strive to assert their independence, they discover that family ties are deeper than they realized.
The play was first produced at the Humana Festival in Louisville in 1984.
